Photo 1: Self Portrait Timer
Setting the Camera
- Put your camera on a tripod or steady surface
- Find a spot without a lot of stuff in the background!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Set your Camera to AV
- F/stop between 1.8 and 5.0 NOTE: It is better to use the prime (pancake) lens for this photo. It will go down to 1.8 and will give you a beautiful blur to your image.
- On the back of the camera click on the middle left button
- This will set your timer for 10 seconds
Show your best side
- Everyone has a good side to their face
- Chances are it’s the left.
- A study found that photos showing the left side of your face were more pleasant than photos of the right side of your face.
- Even if you’re using the front-facing camera of your phone, tilt your face a little to the right so that your left side is showing.
Editing: Your Self Portrait

- Edit your photo in a way that represents your personality!
- A black and white edit is always recommended for a classic photographic look.
