Step 1:
  • Choose a photographs you have taken
    • You may use an online image if you do not have your own photo
  • Open photo in Photoshop

 

Step 2:

  • Pick the Quick Selection Tool
    • Select the person

Step 3:

  • Click Control   J
    • On the Layers Pallet
      • a copy of the person will be created on a new layer

Step 4:

  • Click Off the eye on the Background Layer
    • The background will now be checkered 

Step 5:

  • Click on the color box at the bottom of the tool bar
    • The Color Picker will open
      • Decide what color you want for the background
        • I suggest white but you can use any color

 

Step 6:

  • Click on the Paint Bucket Tool on the tool bar
    • If you can not find it, right click on the gradient tool to reveal it 

Step 7:

  • With the Paint Bucket tool
    • Click anywhere in the background
      • If anything pops up as a warning just click ok or resaturate

Step 8:

  • Click on the Line Tool
    • If you can not find it, it may be hidden behind the other shape tools

   

 

Step 9:

  • Go to the top of Photoshop
    • Click on Fill:
      • Make it the color you used for the background
        • It should show up as the first color on Recently used
    • Click Stroke:
      • Make it the color you used for the background
        • It should show up as the first color on Recently used
    • Next to Stroke, make it 4pt

Step 10:

  • Deside what type of lines you want to use.
    • Each line type will create a different feeling to your image
      • Vertical LinesStrenth, Power, Elongate 
      • Horizontal LinesPeace, Calm, Restful
      • Diagonal LinesMovement, Energy,  Tension 
  • I picked diagonal lines because it matched the tone of the photograph

Step 11:

  • Start drawing lines over your photograph
  • Everytime you draw a new line it will create a new layer

Step 12:

  • If you want to change the size of the lines
    • Change the pt number
      • Do NOT make the line to think or to thin

Step 13:

  • If you do not like where you drew a line
    • Select the Move Tool and move the line to another spot

 

Step 14:

  • Flatten the layers when you are done
  • Save to computer
